A note on a K-State basketball target

Well, things have officially gotten interesting...

Coleman Hawkins was set to visit Louisville this weekend, but our Louisville site recently reported that he will NOT be taking that visit. Instead, it appears that Hawkins will be pursuing other options in the transfer portal.

I'm not sure if K-State will receive a visit, but this is good news for the Wildcats. They have been interested in Hawkins even after landing Ugonna Onyenso, and they now have one less contender for him. NIL has been a big talking point in this recruitment, and while I'm sure how much money K-State can truly offer, I do not expect money to be an issue for K-State.

Other schools are certainly interested, especially those with big NIL budgets. But K-State is in a solid position and could make things interesting if they land a visit. I will let y'all know if he schedules a K-State visit, but there's a possibility they choose to keep any visit under wraps, like they did with other recruits earlier this cycle.

Big 12 looking to sell naming rights and ownership stake

The Big 12 is looking to make an unprecedented move, selling their naming rights to a company.

Appears they’re in discussions with Allstate. The name? “Allstate 12” and nothing like “The Big 12 presented by Allstate”

Trying to find out more information, but here’s what we know right now. They would be the first conference to do, but others (Conference USA) is also looking to follow suit.

A snippet of MAGA cult behavior

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A visit to the Pennsylvania House floor by two former police officers who helped protect the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot of 2021 drew boos and walkouts by some Republican legislators this week.

Witnesses said the appearance Wednesday by former U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn and his ex-boss, former Sgt. Aquilino Gonell, triggered a distinctly negative response from some Republicans, with someone even shouting that they were cowards.

House Speaker Joanna McClinton, D-Philadelphia, who welcomed Gonell and Dunn to the floor, called the GOP reaction to the former officers disrespectful. She said in a statement that many Republican members walked off the floor, turned their backs and booed.

“The GOP members’ shameful behavior was unbecoming of our institution for any guest, let alone two of the men responsible for defending our democracy during a dark day in our nation’s history,” McClinton said. ”The Republicans’ disrespect, lack of patriotism and even common decency, epitomizes the poor behavior that so many in the MAGA movement have adopted.”

From Yahoo Sports-Prime and the Buffs over/under

The Buffaloes’ win total is the most-bet of any team at BetMGM so far. Oddsmakers have set Colorado’s over/under at 5.5 wins for the upcoming season. More over bets have been made on Colorado’s total than any other team and the Buffs are also getting the most under bets.

So far, the mass of bettors placing wagers on Colorado are generally siding with the over at -125. Sixty-three percent of bets and 79% of the handle is on the over.
