Still disappointed in the 2003 Heisman voting - first, I can't believe Darren Sproles finished 5th, but if you look at the end of the season when the teams needed them most, he blew away Jason White and second place Larry Fitzgerald.
Sproles went for 273 yards on 43 attempts against Mizzou after going for 140 yards on 25 attempts against Nebraska, propelling K-State into the Big 12 championship game where he went for 235 yards on 23 attempts against the "best defense of all time" in OU.
Meanwhile Fitzgerald had 7 receptions for 102 yards against Temple, 3 receptions for 26 yards against Miami, and 5 receptions for 77 yards against Virginia.
White wilted in the Big 12 championship game going 27 of 50 for 298 yards with 0 TDs and 2 interceptions. Granted this was after decent games against Baylor and Texas Tech but it still looked bad on the biggest stage.
I know this is old news but was thinking about it today and had to take a look back at the stats to verify my memory.
