Iowa State - 93 Yard Touchdown
(video will start at the Kickoff)
ISU lines up with 5 players inside of the left hash mark and 6 (including the kicker) to defend the rest of the field. This would lead me to believe the kick was intended to go into the deep left corner.
Instead of deep into the corner the ball is fielded just inside of the left hash at the 7 yard line. KSU is setting up a return to the opposite side of the field. Initial blocks are being made and the 3 man wall is forming.
Look at this lane! #55 Blake Richmeier decleats the ISU defender and a nice wall has developed. Big hole to run through with Phillip Brooks leading the way. #38 (who I believe is the kicker) is in position to possibly make a play IF he can get by Brooks.
The lane is holding up and as long as Ross Elder can maintain his block on the right side it is about time for Youngblood to be off to the races.
Elder keeps his man occupied, Youngblood breaks outside, Brooks takes out the kicker and the race is on,
Youngblood has the corner and the only defender with a chance to make a play is the ISU gunner from the opposite side of the field. He is already a step behind and has lost his angle.
The ISU defender attempts to catch Youngblood realizes he is going to lose ground and attempts a TD saving dive that comes up empty.
Downfield at the 15 Brooks makes another block on a chasing ISU defender with a good angle to seal Youngblood's trip into the endzone.
Beautifully executed blocking and returning lead to one of the most exciting plays in football.
