The home opener for the K-State baseball team was a successful one, the Wildcats used two big innings at the start and close of the ballgame to defeat the Golden Lions 18-8. Two players were a factor in the victory over Pine Bluff, Tyler Moore and Jake Wodtke combined three hits and seven RBIs including a two-run homer by Moore in the bottom of the 6th inning.

I must say, the weather was fantastic for opening day, it was very welcoming for the hitters. Pine Bluff's Michael Bradley had a solid day at the plate with two bombs including a grand slam in the top of the 5th Inning. The Widlcat pitching didn't get settled until Jacob Ruder came into the ballgame and only allowed one run and just a couple of hits in the last few frames of the ballgame.

Final Analysis: It was clear, K-State was the better team and will be the better team this entire series. The only thing I'd like to see is over the next two games we see younger players develop and keep everybody healthy. I'd be shocked if K-State were to drop a game this series.
