-Deines with a Five Star Game
It might be a bit to early to make the claim but Megan Deines is one of my favorite players on this squad. Tonight she had her best game in a Wildcat uniform. 20 points on 7-10 shooting including 2-3 from three point range. The Wildcats have a consistent threat and inside-outside game when paired with Bre Lewis. This could be a dangerous 1-2 punch come Big 12 play.
-Slow Starts....Again...
Sure it was early, but it was another game where the Wildcats came out slow out of the gate. I understand that it's not always easy coming out against a lesser opponent but being down at the end of one to an Abilene Christian team that was not good is one of the few negatives tonight.
-Solid Defense
ACU struggled to gain any time of traction on offense partly due to the stingy K-State defense that caused 23 turnovers including six straight at one point. As with any Mittie team, when K-State is one it's game defensively, not many teams can survive that and defeat the Wildcats.
-More MiMi???
One player that's impressed me coming off the bench is Antoniette Taylor. Had a chance to ask coach Mittie if we would possibly be seeing Antoinette more in the games to come, didn't get an answer but he was pleased with what she's done for the team so far and expects her game to continue to get better.
Final Analysis
From the second quarter on this K-State team was clearly much better. It was good to see the entire team contribute and it looks like this team when healthy and engaged can go deep in the bench to get additional contributions. We'll see what they can do this coming Thursday against South Dakota.
