Another game, another slow start
In stretches of the game against South Dakota, Kansas State looked really good. The first few minutes of the ballgame was not one of them. right out of the gate, the Wildcats struggled to get going. Coach Mittie pulled four of the starters early just to get a spark off the bench. While it did help somewhat, it was not enough and K-State struggled to gain a lead at the end of the first quarter.

South Dakota Sharpshooting
I've been watching and covering basketball at the college and high school level for about the last 10-12 years and this is one of the more fascinating shooting displays I've ever seen. 17-35 from beyond the arc for a 48.6 percent clip. Caitlin Duffy from SD was 7-13 from three all by herself. It's becoming apparent that Kansas State is running into teams that can hit from deep (see Pitt State), this could be a problem heading into Big 12 Play.

Wesemann emerging as this team's heart and soul
Aside from going perfect from the free throw line and making countless hustle plays over 41 minutes of game time. It's becoming more apparent that Kindred Wesemann is becoming the leader of this team. I had a chance to observe her on the bench tonight and her energy even on the bench is infectious. It's hard to imagine where this team would be without her on/off floor leadership.

Deines Update
After the game, Coach Mittie was asked about the status of Megan Deines who suffered what appears to be an ankle injury. We don't know the severity of it right now, however she was able to walk on her own power after a few minutes of getting it looked at.

Final Analysis
The Wildcats move to 3-0 and head to Storrs to face UConn. Frankly the team as a whole did not look good tonight which isn't what you'd want to heading into a game like this. However, a win is a win and the Wildcats are 3-0 as they travel to UConn.
