Thoughts and Analysis from K-State's 58-49 victory over TCU on Saturday Night

Lewis Domination
For an entire 40 minutes, TCU didn't have one answer for Breanna Lewis and in my opinion she played her best game of the season last night. 25 points, 9 rebounds and several unsung plays that were disrupted due to her presence in the post. We know that a Wesemann or Deines can go off at any time for a ton of points but this team operates much differently if the 6-5 forward has a presence in the ballgame. Maybe last night's game was a sign of good things to come for Lewis.

No Three Zone
TCU is one of the best shooting teams in the country and is tops in the Big 12 when it comes to putting up shots from beyond the arc. In last night's ballgame, Kansas State's zone pressure on the perimeter disrupted the offensive flow for TCU and it took the Horned Frogs about three quarters to get in an offensive groove. The Horned Frogs were 5-20 from three and leading scorer Zahna Medley was 0-5 from long distance. K-State's effort on the defensive end last night was worth watching over and over and over again.

Little things making a big difference
Sure shooting 39 percent isn't great and getting out rebounded on the offensive end wasn't great but the little things K-State did last night really made a difference. Throughout the entire lineup everybody made a difference, no matter how big or how small. From Erica Young fighting for a rebound just as TCU was trying to make a run all the way to Megan Deines grabbing clutch steals then Kelly Thomson hitting a big three to light up the crowd. You get where I'm going here, there were very few drawbacks to last night's victory.

Final Analysis
Is it early? Yes but this was a HUGE victory by the Wildcats last night. Games like this last season were toss-ups for the Wildcats, now they they've shown they can beat teams that have matching records it's time to see what they can do against two of the Big 12's bottom feeders in Texas Tech and Kansas. Getting wins there not only help your record but they keep you away from having bad losses, something that hurt the ladies a year ago.
