I took some time and did a small analysis/comparison of the offers received by some of our recent recruiting classes. I did this because I think offers can be another valuable data point when evaluating classes. We all know when Tee Denson is a 5.6 3 star with 35 offers and Justin Eichman is a 5.7 three star with 1 offer from us, that the scoring system isn't always accurate. I used the Rivals database to compile this data, so the data isn't perfect, it's all dependent on offers received vs offers actually reported here. This can definitely influence the data below. For example, Josh Youngblood's 44 reported offers/2 P5 offers significantly increased the overall offer number for the class of 2019. Another factor is when players commit. We received a lot of late commits last year with Klieman and company scrambling to fill a recruiting class, whereas this year we locked a ton of guys up early, effectively putting an end to some guys receiving/reporting offers in some cases, i.e. Keyon Mozee choosing not to report further offers.
Initially, I was also going to include the 2017 class, but the numbers would have gotten very messy because so many guys didn't make it to campus and some guys were listed as committed that didn't make it and others were listed as signed that I wasn't sure were even on scholarship. Another important note, I did not include JoJo Wilson or Makholven Sonn in the class of 2020 as they are not expected to be a part of this year's class. 2021 numbers are mostly just for fun at this point, sample size is far too small, and it's far too early for the numbers to mean much of anything anyway.
Anyway, I know the data isn't perfectly accurate and can be influenced positively/negatively with a few players over or underreporting their offers, but I thought that it was an interesting look at the last few recruiting classes.
