Before I say anything else, I'd be remiss if I didn't say thank you to everyone who reached out to me, from the posters at gpc to Fitz and D Scott, thank you. Back in June, my life was falling apart, and I sought the advice of the board in dealing with my alcoholism and my depression, and I did so with a level of desperation I can't even begin to describe to you. Suffice to say, I was on the absolute brink, and you all played a hand in literally saving my life. Sincerely, thank you.
It's been a day by day battle for me, but through the help of a great therapist and an amazing wife who stood by me, despite having every good reason to leave me, I've just about got my depression licked, and though I still overindulge from time to time, I don't abuse alcohol the way I once did. I've gone from getting completely wasted every single day to actually drinking like a regular person. I've dropped a few pounds, I've gotten in better shape, but most importantly, I'm slowly starting to like myself again.
I started this thing called the booze jar. Every time I felt the need to go buy a bottle of whiskey I put however much cash I had in my wallet in this mason jar. My original plan was to spend however much cash I put in that jar on K-State football tickets.
I did that. We'll be in section 6 on Saturday. We'll be attending the Iowa State and Baylor games as well.
I'm doing my best to apply the 16 goals to my own life. #12 is my favorite. No self limitations. Expect more of yourself. As of today, I'm happy with what I've done. But I'm not satisfied. I want to do more.
