I have supported and been a BW guy since day 1 but Saturday might have been the final straw for me. It was not because we lost to a ranked team at home or a team with only 6 players with actual roles but coaching was at an all time low.
When a team only has the number of players that Iowa State has I don't see how you don't go with an attack the basket mentality. Pick up cheap hand check and at the rim fouls until they have a guy sitting on the bench. The fact that no Iowa State player fouled out is a complete joke and it lies on Bruce Weber. The announcer stupidly said you do not want to get into a running game with Iowa State. When they have guards playing 37 minutes that's EXACTLY what you want to do. BW had a complete disregard for the situation and it cost him greatly.
Finally, WHY THE HELL DO WE NOT HAVE A ZONE OFFENSE? This is the number 1 fireable offense. We have faced the zone every game and continue to be lost. From an amateur it is clear the solution to this is have Wes play the high post at the free throw line. Instead, we have Wes dribbling the ball around the three point line until there is 3 seconds on the shot clock.
Also, Dante Williams back in a boot. Can we have big men that don't have feet problems?
Unless something drastic changes the rest of this year I think its already time to move on. I hope we can hold on to some of the better players we have but I have lost faith in the development and coaching.
