When I heard that Bob Stoops was retiring, I first wondered if he had a health issue.
OR maybe Bob was just burned out (though most of the time, Bobby doesn’t seem too stressed).
OR was Bobby being pressured to hire a co-defensive coordinator to help his brother coach the defense (and he didn’t like it).
OR just maybe, Bob wanted to spend more time with his family and do things that he couldn’t do during football season. I mean most people jump at the opportunity to retire early.
Then again, football is in his blood. I contend that Stoops will return to coaching after a 1 or 2 year absence.
I read this story / theory and just maybe this writer is on to something.
If this writer is correct and Stoops was put-off by the Lincoln Riley love fest (coach in waiting), I got one thing to say to the OU admin / faithful, be careful what you wish for.
Who knows, Riley might turn out to be a great “head” coach or then again, he could struggle and fail.
