After failed attempts in late March and mid April to reconnect with Antonio Oliver on the status of his arrival to Manhattan, I finally heard back from the Georgia cornerback for the first time since February 1 today. The two-star had some uplifting news.
Here is Antonio's response to my asking when he would be getting to K-State:
"Should be up there in like 3 weeks... NCAA complications man
"
We'll see if this holds. I know there was a decent amount of paperwork to collect on his end due to transfer. Some schools have things organized and ready to roll, some high schools can be a struggle to get everything to the NCAA the way those in charge request it. I can imagine his frustration.
As for what this means to the depth chart, probably nothing. Oliver, like virtually every other freshman, was always going to redshirt, no matter how thin the cornerback pool is. More than anything, simply getting here this year and not next year will be the most beneficial. He'll have a year to understand the program and get used to the demands of college football. This is positive news for the future.
