Anyone else give up on paying attention to recruiting?

I've been a KSU fan since my freshman year of college in 1994. I ended up graduating from vet school in 2003. I used to live and die by KSU recruiting info. I can recall when we thought Vince Young was going to visit. In the last 5 years I've given up the recruiting interest. It just doesn't pan out.
I'm not saying recruiting isn't important, it's critical. That said.
KSU doesn't win recruiting battles against power 5 schools outside of the state. When we do, it's guys like Jerome Janet, and Nick Patton. Those new to the game will be saying who? On the opposite side the guys we do land we coach into greatness for the most part. No one was interested in guys like Jordy Nelson, and Terrence Newman coming out of high school. But, once they hit the field, they started catching some attention.
Bottom line we lose out on the big name recruits, the few we land tend to bust. We do land a lot of guys who work out but when we landed them the recruiting geeks were not excited.
I don't begrudge anyone who enjoys following recruiting. I just never found it very rewarding. Too many misses on guys who became something, too many next big thing's who totally busted, and too many no names who became the big man on campus.
I just enjoy seeing the guys once they're on the field and seeing what they make of themselves. The guys who have the talent, and can take coaching can become great, and that's fun to watch.
Does anyone else follow the guys on the roster and not interested in the recruiting phase?
