You are spared a link as there is no free online version, but the Oct 6 JAMA has a review from their network: "Eliminating the Confusion Surrounding Concussions in Sports". Article did everything but that.
So some random bits that I'm sure coaches everywhere will gladly adhere to:
"Injuries occur in all sports" "Football practices were a major source of concussion .....Concussions during practice might be mitigated.....Although it is more difficult to change the intensity or conditions of a game, many strategies can be used during practice to limit player-to-player contact....."
"It is recommended that a player demonstrating any features of concussion after a direct or impulsive transmission of force the the head undergo formal evaluation with a sideline assessment tool. Although a variety of assessment tools exist, they are not definitely diagnostic......"
So reading from a negative viewpoint: You are going to get hurt. Don't practice hard because you might get hurt. If you do get hurt have someone check it out, but they probably won't have an answer anyway.
I'm glad medicine has advanced so far....
