In Klieman's last 2 classes there have been 8 blueshirts and 1 greyshirt.

Much keyboard time has been spent debating the risk/reward tradeoff of this strategy. Each grey/blue shirt takes a spot from the next recruiting class. It's a layaway process of buy-now pay-later that can hurt the program if the guys added aren't good enough to contribute or don't stay in the program. Adding players who aren't with the program the year they count against the 25 initial counters is a great way to submarine your program, ask KU. There is also value in using this approach to keep the roster at/near 85.

Here are the adds
2020: 2 blue and 1 grey
Felix Anudike - possible starter
Sam Shields - not an expected 2021 contributor. TDB
Hadley Panzer - blueshirt candidate flipped to greyshirt after HS injury. Possible 2021 contributor and seen as 2022 starting center.
24 regular-counter commits

2021: 5 blueshirts
Kade Warner - perplexing addition. unclear if he'll contribute during what is expected to his be last season playing
Tyrone Howell - exciting addition that should contribute in 2021
Damian Ilalio - positive buzz. 2021 will be a development year. Possible 2022 contributor.
Desmond Purnell -not an expected 2021 contributor. TBD
DJ Giddens - buzziest freshman. Expected to contribute in 2021 and beyond.
15 regular-counter commits

It's too early to draw conclusions on the prudence of using so many grey/blue shirts, but at this point the quality of players being added seems as good as the typical commits. Additionally, not 1 grey/blue shirt has transferred out. I will update this thread as the picture becomes clearer
