Seeing as the B12 only has 1 team in the second weekend of the tournament, it led me to do some deep thinking of the style of play in the conference. IMO, Offense is the biggest asset come March. I thought... why the lack of success with the B12 in March in recent years given that is touted as "the best league in America" in recent memory??

After some thinking and analysis I came to the conclusion that instead of attempting to out SCORE the opponent, I feel that the B12 as a whole, tries to out DEFEND the opponent in an attempt to win games. Thus, the lack of success in recent March Madness's

And I think this is generally backed up by a lot of the advanced stats (I believe that to be the case), because the B12 teams always have some of the best D rtgs. in the country every year. I just feel that we (the conference) just beat down and batter each other throughout our conference that schedule in an attempt to out DEFEND the other team that, come March, we struggle to score against other teams not from our league.

Also, the P12 has been having great success in the tournament, simply put, because they always try and beat the other team at the number one objective of basketball, to score more points.

Any other thoughts on this idea and how/why it is not conducive to long runs in March, even though we are touted as the best conference every year before March.
