B12 BB Conference Co-Champions

Why does K-State always have to share the conference championship with KU when discussed during a broadcast, but KU gets full credit (no co-champs) when mentioning their championships?

It would be nice to hear occasionally that the Cats won the B12 in 2012. No additional commentary needed.
