This team looked overmatched against Arky St. This is the same team that struggled against a mediocre G5 team, now 3 crucial players are out. The only way we weren't going to lose this game with ISU playing this well was to play the COIVD card and not play at all.
The team hasn't quit. Kids are playing hard, they are just overmatched at key positions.
The coaches aren't fools. Andy Reid wouldn't be winning this game with this roster.
The transfers aren't a canary in the coal mine. The NCAA as a whole has triple the normal number of transfers in the portal right now...and frankly, the guys in the portal weren't on the field so that kind of suggests the scholarship would be better used on a different player.
There are no easy answers. We need better starters and we need more depth. The roster is a decade of poor recruiting catching up with us. Don't expect next year to be significantly better unless we are able to hit 3-5 home runs on transfers or true freshman who are solid starters.
