Given they play 6-7 guys and they cannot afford foul trouble, Iowa State has shown zone tendencies this year. But it's apparent our staff didn't see those parts of the film during ISU game preparation. Seems to me I'd be taking it into the paint EVERY possession, but in fact ISU had the 20-12 advantage in the paint in the first half exactly the direct opposite of what we needed to happen. Watching us perimeter pass in the first half reminded me of watching grade school teams pass around the perimeter for minutes on end.
Quite the merry-go-round in the first half.
It was offensive alright, R-rated.
Second half was better, but we let them slice us up worse in the second half too.
Thank God for the shot clock.
So Bruce, in his post game quote yesterday “I always blame myself that I don’t do a good enough job helping them learn. Some of it is basketball knowledge, savvy and feel. Some guys know how to attack the zone. Some don’t. We just have to do a better job teaching.
Yup that's the understatement of the year. So, you just noticed that yesterday at 3 pm?
Knowing ISU and ....ahem... BzAoYnLeOR, play a little bit of zone
, I would have thought with all the time off during semester break there just might have been a little bit of time spent on practicing zone penetration.
Always had heard that Bruce really knows Z's and O's?
