2018 KSU as a underdog beats Kentucky in the sweet 16 61-58 (2nd place)
2010 KSU beats Xavier in double OT amazing game (1st place)
2023 KSU beats Kentucky 75-69 to advance to the sweet 16 in a back and forth thriller. Heart over height Nowell delivers one of the best individual performances by a KSU point Guard in modern KSU basketball history (post 89). On top of coach Tang being in his 1st year as a head coach. (3rd place)
Unbelievable story is unfolding and in year 1 Tang has an opportunity to move up that list. I’m so thankful for coach Tang and I hope we get to watch his teams for many years to come. My basketball as a child growing up in Manhattan mostly consisted of watching Asbury and Wooldridge trash KSU basketball. I feel so lucky to call coach Tang my coach right now. The beauty of it is the passion and investment from the staff, it’s not just about the W’s (although of course those help).
What are your top three KSU victories post 89? I went with tournament victories, but you can make an argument for KU victories. Although I’m not going to give them the satisfaction, because I feel like we are bigger than a KU victory these days. We win tournament games now while they sit at home and we split during the regular season. I live in the present 😊.
Beating OU when they were #1 in 2016. When they had an amazing team lead by Buddy Hield comes to mind. Solidifying a spot in the NCAA tournament where they received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. During which they defeated Wake Forest in the First Four to advance to the First Round where they lost to Cincinnati. That year solidified the Brown, Wade, Stokes combo that would go on to win a B12 regular season championship in 18/19.
What else you guys got? Enjoy those W’s baby! I think we are going to see many more in Tang’s tenure! EMAW BABY!! 😈🤟
