not that it would make a difference in the outcome of games, but it sure seems like K-State does not catch any breaks when it comes to the Big 12 BB schedule.
For example:
Had OU & ku played their 3 over-time game on a Wednesday night, instead of on Big Monday, the CATS would have had a much better chance of pulling off an upset in Norman three days later (versus 5 days later).
ku plays an over-time game against Kentucky today and pulls out a big win... ku players & fans will be talking about the Kentucky game well into Monday. K-State would have a better chance to catch ku sleeping if the game was being played on Tuesday night, but it's a Wednesday night game. No, I'm not saying K-State would upset ku on Tuesday, but not Wednesday (ha), just saying the chance of an unlikely upset would be better.
This week, OU has a home game with TCU on Tuesday... K-State travels to Lawrence on Wednesday. OU will likely take care of the pesky Horn Frogs on Tuesday night in Norman with room to spare, whereas K-State will likely get beat down in Larryville on Wednesday night. K-State's chances of pulling an upset over OU on Saturday in Manhattan is not helped by next week's schedule.
Again, I'm not saying that these scheduling quirks would change the outcome of games, but they don't help.
K-State got one less day to prepare for Okie State = Okie State played ku at home on a Tuesday night, K-State played Baylor on the road on a Wednesday night... but K-State was still able to play a good game and knock the Pokes out in Manhattan the following Saturday.
But guess what, when K-State goes to Stillwater to play Okie State on a Saturday, the Pokes will have played on Big Monday that week, whereas K-State hosts Baylor on Wednesday the same week. When you get into February, having two extra days to rest & prepare is an even bigger benefit.
What's even funnier...K-State has one game on Big Monday. And then plays Iowa State on the road the following Saturday (okay, that will be nice to have a couple of extra days in Late February). But guess what, Iowa State also plays on Big Monday on the same day (two Big 12 - Big Monday games)...LOL You can't make this stuff up...
GO STATE !
