yes, ku is still the favorite, but just maybe another team will step up this year.
ku is obviously struggling on defense.
Baylor appears to be positioned to challenge for the Big 12 crown. The Bears are undefeated and have wins over 3 Top 10 teams. Though the Baylor could end up being a text book example of a team that peaks early and then leaks oil in February.
Press Virginia is going to be a tough out again this season, but I don't believe the Mountaineers are as talented as they were last season.
At this point in time, Iowa State is better than I thought they would be. Yes, the Clones have 4 losses, but they are not bad losses.
The Clones lost by 2 points in Waco on Tuesday night.
Lost to Gonzaga by 2 points
Lost to Cinci by 1 point (in OT).
Their only not-so-good loss was against Iowa in Iowa City (lost by 14).
What about Texas Tech...big win over WV.
Much improved... it will be interesting to see how the Red Raiders play tomorrow against ku.
TCU is improved as well, but I'm still not sure by how much. Yes, the Frogs played ku tough in Ft Worth, but I haven't seen enough. TCU's biggest win on the season was their 3 point victory over OU this past Tuesday. Like TT, it will be interesting to see how TCU plays on the road against a good team this Saturday (@ WV).
The Pokes have had their ups and downs this season, but Okie State might have the best guard tandem in the Big 12 (yes, even as good as Graham & Mason). Fortee is not very athletic, but he's a smart savy senior, who can knock down 3s (& make good passes). Jawun Evans is a stud and probably the best guard in the Big 12. With Underwood's leadership, I expect the Pokes to improve as the season unfolds... time will tell.
Texas... young team that should only get better, but no question that the Horns have struggled to this point in time. I would be very surprised is they pull off an upset in Ames this Saturday.
OU ... where's your Buddy? Wow, the Sooners have fallen off the kitchen table, but OU is still dangerous. The Sooners held the lead for most of the game against TCU (on the road) before going cold in the final minutes, losing by 3.
As for the CATS, I'm cautiously optimistic. As they say, never read too much into one game.
Kansas State needs to take care of business against OU. Next, the CATS face a challenging game on the road against TT, followed by a home tilt against red-hot Baylor. In short, it's not going to take long for us to find out how good our CATS are.
GO STATE !!
