I get it. The conference was soft in its new form for a few years. But 2015 was a turning Point for
Me and it’s been on a momentum trend upward since. And the “herd view” of the conference needs to shift. I want to tell them the following:
You guys need to do better homework slamming the Big 12’s tourney performance “over last couple years”. Let’s go with last two years for now.
Did you know the last time the Big 12 had 3 teams in the second weekend before 2016 was 2006? It’s now two years in a row and 2018 will make 3 years in a row it’s happened - bank it.
Also, did you know the only other conferences that can state this (back to back 3 or more second weekend teams) are the ACC and B1G? And the B1G in the last two years has had ZERO Elite 8 teams while the Big 12 has had 3 total in KU x2 and OU once. We all know the ACC is the #1 until proven wrong. But the slamming needs to stop because you’re talking about the first few years of the “new Big 12” (2012-2015 - which I agree with the “dark ages” for the Big 12).
The talking heads have done the same in football (again bc OU and Texas weren’t competing for championships in the first few years of the new Big 12), AND just so conveniently the Big 12 has the BEST combined bowl record of all conferences over the last two years. The conference overall is trending up so wake up and stop being “Twitter herd mentality” and do some research!!
