My Lawd, Connelly’s SP+ Rankings don’t respect us. And when I look at his Big 12 predictions, some of them are just terrible. I know it’s his model predicting it and not necessarily HIM making these predictions, but this seems to be a pretty crappy model. I know I and others have harped on Connelly’s predictions already this offseason, but he put out a new article today. He has us as a 5-7 team and a 3-win conference team, which sucks as a prediction by itself. But then he has Baylor as a 6 win team, including 4 conference wins, and a 66% chance of going over that. We only have a 45% chance of getting more than 5 wins. So not only is his model low on us, but he doesn’t project us to surpass those totals. And he has Tech essentially dead-even with us. I’m sorry, but we are going to be better than Baylor and Tech is way worse than us. It’s really not close.
As another poster put it a few weeks ago when we were discussing his predictions: “Crappy data in equals crappy data out.”
