There's probably no better time to find out about this than today, considering K-State's giant 2017 haul with Creed+Adler+Rivas, but I'm hearing Blake Hickey may no longer be with the team and is not currently on campus.
Haven't confirmed with Blake, but multiple sources have relayed the same details to me and it sounds as though his exit may not be so much from the grind of playing for Bill Snyder or conditioning with Chris Dawson but instead something (more specifically, someone) back home. No word on if the decision is permanent and, if it is, whether he'll pursue football elsewhere.
Truly unfortunate news. Hopefully this isn't a decision he comes to regret down the road. He had a very impressive highlight reel as a multi-award winner in Texas and was always open for conversations with me during his recruiting process. Good kid.
On the bright side though, Hickey was going to be redshirted regardless and this move could also add another scholarship for Dickey and company to use up front in 2017. They already have a fantastic group to build around with the latest commits.
