At Kansas State, athletic director John Currie said he won’t borrow for anything but football and basketball, the two sports that make money. The Wildcats, who compete in the Big 12 Conference, have built $210 million in new facilities under Currie while accruing modest annual debt service of about $6 million. “We’ve looked very seriously at the fact that our debt service needs to remain as close to that number as it can as the landscape continues to evolve,” Currie said.
