After reading the article and piecing together other rumors I have heard, my guess is that the Big 12 is pursuing a couple teams that have not been made public. And, the Big 12 will not decide on the public candidates until those non public schools have made a decision. It could also be a ploy by Boren to force UT to cave on GOR and a Big 12 network. Boren has been pushing expansion fairly hard and for him to publicly backtrack a bit, is worth noting. I don't buy the TV partners bit because that information was available to him each and every time he has publicly pushed for Expansion. Something has definitely changed/been added to the mix. The big question, in my mind, is what.
I am not sure why you would force the other schools to go through the song and dance and get their hopes up only to say, "hey, we were just kidding."
