For the 4th time, Brownback's pie-in-the-sky revenue projections have fallen short, forcing legislators to scramble to balance the budget.
For the 4th time (at least), part of the solution involved "diverting" money from the highway fund. This, of course, will put Kansas' budget under pressure in the future.
Reasonable people can disagree about the size of government, but has "less education" EVER been a good solution for the long term health of a state?
Brownback and the legislature bought into "trickle down" economics as much as any state ever has and even hardcore republican voters are unhappy. Brownback is in too deep - his political career is over unless the state's economy makes an unprecedented turnaround. The legislature, however, presumably wants to be reelected.
My question is this: at some point, will the legislature start blaming the governor and mutiny?
