The PAC 12 did not fill their bowl slots, so the Big 12 opponent in the Cactus Bowl will be from the Mountain West. It is my understanding that the Mountain West does not follow a defined selection process for placing teams in bowls.
A chance to square off against a Big 12 foe will be a better option than many of their other choices. Likely opponents could be Boise St, San Diego St., or Wyoming.
