Can a young AD handle this football and basketball coaching change?

As much as I like Laird for the AD spot, can we afford to have him learn on the job with these two critical coaching selections?

Not that either coach is out of the door as of yet, but I question his independence when it comes to his decision making. This would be a bad time to hire a young AD.

Bill and General's Meyer's influence would be fairly smothering.
