Bill Snyder is a HOF coach. In his first stint he had us at the brink of playing in a championship in 1998.

His record in his first 15 seasons was 127-55-1 for a .693 winning percentage. Since his 03' Big 12 Championship his record is 63-45 for a .583 winning percentage.

.583 is the equivalent of a 7-5 season. In 104 years of Kansas State football there have been 19 seasons where K-State finished with at least a .583 winning percentage. 15 of those 19 have came under Bill Snyder. He ended stint one with back to back losing seasons.

In no way shape or form should Bill Snyder ever be fired. But it is time for some changes. It is very evident that the game of football has changed, and the methods we have been succesful with aren't workinh as well. The offenses are much more complex to defend now, and the era of low scoring defensive games are nearly over(except in the SEC). It will be very difficult to find a young and upcoming assistant willing to come coach for a HC whose years are numbered.

I am not a big fan of the HCIW title. But in our situation it could very well be a solution to getting a great younger coach. It would also bring stability to recruiting.

It would allow us to have Bill have some input into who the next coach will be, and allow Tom Hayse to retire without being fired. Bring in a defensive coordinator, give them the title, and give Bill a time frame to allow recruits to know who their next coach will be.
