He does handles the ball for his HS (which might only mean that everybody else just gives him the ball and clears out of his way). And the issue isn't whether he's the next John Stockton -- it's whether he can he handle the ball and pass as well as or better than Stokes, Diarra, Brown, etc.
I don't know how big of a deal it might be to him to stay at the point but, if it's even a consideration, promise him the Day One starting position! The NCAA announcers repeatedly referred to Iwundu as our PG. Is it too much of a stretch to think that Smith could pIay a similar role?
I know Smith is a long shot, but perhaps next season's ball handling weakness could be a recruiting strength for us with him...
