Sooner or later, we will be looking for a new Men's Hoops Coach.
KSU has a proud, strong basketball tradition. Recent past B12 title share proves we are not at rock bottom, not nearly as "low" as football was prior to Bill Snyder proclaiming "a great opportunity exists".
Our BB program has some pluses;
1) Though waning, we have passionate fan base, albeit not all on the same page,
2) We have an excellent practice facility,
3) We have an solid group of average-talent current & and incoming players,
4) We've been told the financial resources are there to highly-compensate "THE" next Moses.
But, the huge shadow hanging over the State, B12 conference and our country is in the form of a Chicken Coop AND as much as it pains me......
it's so hard to say it........
OK I won't say it---look at the "accomplishment" ring-billboard on I-70 WB in Topeka near St Joseph church Towers.
It was a joy watching our Cats from our seats in Ahearn back in the 60s' and 70's we were in the hunt almost every year. The B8 was cyclically competitive clear up to the day a particular person named Lawrence wandered into CoopVille. That's when it all changed.
Considering the cloud of bird droppings which hover over our society--- THE million dollar questions are;
A) Can we attract a HC who can help us build a "Billboard of Rings"? or
B) Will we be relegated to get a HC that can occasionally get us a ring? or
C) Same ole same ole?
I say "B". At best.
Several teams dominated the top of our league when Bill our Moses can aboard, but much more parity existed then as compared to round-ball now which is only cock crowing. As much as I want to believe "A" is highly possible..... to me it is only a fleeting dream, a dream which I fear I'm getting too old to see come true.
