Cats recruit commits to U of Memphis

Memphis coach Mike Norvell has spoken repeatedly about the importance of recruiting within a gas tank's drive of the city, and that radius -- depending one what one is driving -- yielded two more recruits Monday evening.

West Jefferson (Louisiana) High School offensive lineman Mikhail Hill and Edison Preparatory School (Oklahoma) defensive back Marcus Mays both posted on Twitter that they've committed to the Tigers, giving them 14 players in their 2017 recruiting class.

Mays became the third high-school prospect from Oklahoma to commit to Memphis, joining wide receiver Nick Robinson and defensive back Quindon Lewis, who are both from the Oklahoma City area. Earlier this summer, Memphis also picked up a commitment from junior-college defensive back Marcus Green, who attended high school in Texas but played at Oklahoma and is now at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

Mays, who is listed at 6 feet 1 and 175 pounds, is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals and 247 Sports and unrated by ESPN. He reportedly held offers from Kansas State, Wyoming and Illinois, among others
