Charles Jones and the Wildcat

Let's see now, we line up in the Wildcat in the 3rd OT extra point. About 1 and one half yards to go to score 2. Charles is all lined up. I am the LaTech defensive coordinator. Jones is not going to pass. Jones is not going to hand off the ball. Jones is going to run. Therefore, I send a signal (somehow) to my defense to drop everything else and tackle Jones. They do. Lost about a yard. We have a 6 pt lead and not an 8pt lead. Turns out it didn't matter but what if that play was a turning point. Question, why Jones? Why at that point of the game? Sorry, I'm not a coach. Just watch and try to make sense of the use of the Wildcat. Talk about predictable.
