Faculty and staff,
My deepest and sincerest gratitude for your loyal and caring support over all or part of the past 30 years in which I have been fortunate to be a part of our unique and special university. You have been recognized in our football program as a genuine and caring member of "the family" and as such you were recognized on the university football stadium.
Even though most universities do not promote a positive relationship between academics and football, that has been a major emphasis for us. We've had the highest graduation rate of any public major college football program over these past 30 years (well over 80 percent) and led the Big 12 in the number of academic all conference players in each of the past 5 years and collectively lead the conference over its entire tenure.
That doesn't happen without a great teaching faculty and a program of special young men who have made their education important to them.
