I know I promised this awhile back from Coach Weber. Did not have Coach Weber today but we had Coach Lowery instead. Here's the transcript from the teleconference.
By my count, you guys have two open scholarships. Did the thought ever come across to maybe award Austin a scholarship?
“Yeah absolutely. I think that was something we talked about as a staff and with Coach (Bruce) Weber. But we also had bigs that we expected to be playing at the same time. We probably thought we wanted to wait a little bit, didn’t know if Austin was going to even play this year. But injuries, defection, and now, Austin is doing what he needs to do to help us win games again. You’ve got to give him credit. As a walk-on, and as an exceptional student at the same time in engineering. It’s something that we might need to look to in the further. Maybe in the second semester.”
