just for transparency, the Seiler family home was two miles from the Hurst family farm. Blake’s father was my wife’s horse vet and a real gentleman. I am biased.
Most probably know the story of Blake going to OSU on a wrestling scholarship out of Bishop Carrol. I believe he was injured during high school football which limited his football recruiting. He did excel on the mats and was expecting to become the starter for his weight class but instead chose to transfer to KSU football for a preferred walk on opportunity. He not only started but was asked to move to the defensive tackle position when Prince’s options were limited. I’m betting Blake was the lightest defensive tackle in the Big 12 that year and he never took a play off. I’m old and this is the memory as I remember it so straighten me out where my purple glasses have failed me.
Congrats to the whole Seiler family. GO CATS!
