I wanted to look back at big 12 coaches that had as bad as Big 12 record as we had last year (3-15) and what ultimately happened with that coach. So, I went back to the 2011-2012 season which is the first season on 18 game round-robin schedule. There was 7 instances where teams had as bad or worse record.

3 of those were Trent Johnson in his 4 years at TCU when they jumped up to the Big 12. He posted (2-16, 0-18, 4-14, 2-16) records before being fired.
2011-2012 Tech 1-17 record in Billy Gillespie's first year before being forced to resign.
2012-2013 Tech 3-15 record the Chris Walker (he was a 1 year interim coach after Gillespie's resignation)
2014-2015 Tech 3-15 record in Tubby Smith's 2nd year. He got a 3rd year and went 9-9 and then left
2015-2016 OSU 3-15 record in Travis Ford 8th season and was fired

Makes me notice how bad a 3-15 conference record actually is, where 3 of the seasons are from TCU when they made the jump up and then 3 more are from Tech with how poor that program was during that period.
Also, there is no similar instances where a coach in his 8th season keeps his job after that. I get it was a year removed from Big 12 championship, so that is why Bruce kept his job. However, if this year ends up finishing as bad or worse it would be 2 consecutive years of such, with a coach in his 9th season.
