Why is it that Bill Snyder coached teams (a man who is obsessed with being prepared) are almost always completely unprepared to play their first road or neutral site game of the year?

How can a program be so good at doing all the little things right when people don't have high expectations for them, yet be so terrible at them when people do expect them to be good?
