Currie's Quote

Sometimes we wonder what kind of conversations go on behind close doors and how close we actually got to firing Weber and bringing back Underwood. The last line of this quote from the Kellis article earlier says all we need to know about these conversations.

“I totally get that fans don’t like losing. I don’t like losing, either,” Currie said. “But people like our team. That is what I hear. Out in the social media world, I know there is going to be someone who doesn’t like something I do or doesn’t like a decision I make or doesn’t like Bruce Weber. But we had good crowds at Bramlage Coliseum even though we lost some games. We had a lot of students there, too.”

Bottom line: If ticket sales went down the drain midway through the season then there is a good chance we have a new coach right now. Until then, we have what we have. We can complain all day long on this board, create hashtags, and threaten boycotts but until it hurts them financially nothing will change. Think about Currie, he is more concerned about fundraising (which he is great at) then winning. So if we care about winning we have 2 realistic options. #1 Sit through the next few years of sucky basketball (assuming he gets through his contract) or #2 Stop financial support. It sucks being a fan and torn between supporting the players/school but also trying to send a message by not going to the games. What's good for one hurts the other. Never the position you want to be in.
