I visited the Little Big Horn battlefield in South Central Montana a couple of weeks ago.

Very somber reality to visualize and hear what happened and how the battle developed. White grave markers signified where 7th Calvary troops fell and brown markers for the combined tribes of Sioux, etc. fell. Custer had about 240 men comprised of 5 companies and the Sioux, et al about 4,000 warriors.

Custer was a very ambitious man and had promised in 1869 to an Indian Chieftan, he would not kill another Indian. Bighorn occurred July 25, 1876.

It is widely thought Custer thought if he could achieve a dramatic victory over the enemy combatants, it would propel him into the national limelight and into a top level career in national politics.

So, Custer invaded the enemy territory in what he undoubtedly and innately knew was "wrong" and with no regard for anyone or the truth because he wanted what he wanted. He had to know and have an "oh shit" moment and heaven knows what went through his men's minds as they were getting their free "haircuts!" WTF maybe!

This reminds of the left. They are defeated in the arena of public ideas, they have to know, without admitting, their philosophy is a non starter, they use lies, false propaganda to achieve their only objective for power and for power's sake. The uneducated and powerless 7th Calvary grunts do what they are told for a paycheck not knowing what the Hell is going on.

I can see the similarities. Am I alone?
