my biggest concern on defense for next season is the D-tackle position.
The CATS are going to miss Big Britz.
It sounds like Will Geary will be back, which is huge.
Still sucks that English left the program, but it's big that Demonte Hood is back with the team.
Hopefully Matt Seiwert is ready to step up his game.
And possibly Greg Settles will step up in year 2 after juco (???).
Is Ray Price on campus for Spring Ball ? I believe he's in the student directory. If so, Ray could compete for a rotation spot ...., he certainly doesn't lack confidence (if he doesn't arrive until the summer, not so much).
Dishon & Reese are probably a year away from competing for playing time (though Dishon has size to plug up the middle ... listed at 6'2" / 317).
D-End
I would like to think that Jordan Willis will take his game up another notch for his senior campaign.
Hopefully Tanner Wood will make a jump in his performance as well.
Reggie Walker and Aulelio Olomau will be competing for playing time.
OR perhaps Davis Clark will make a Ryan Mueller type of jump from his sophomore to junior season (okay, reaching here...ha).
The two incoming freshmen (Massie & Robertson) could compete for playing time, but not likely.
Robertson had offers from Tennessee & Iowa ... plus Texas made a late push for him.
Starting D-Line: Willis - Geary - Seiwert/Hood - Wood
Starting LBs: Lee - Moore - ??? (Davis, Hughes, Sizelove, Tanking, McKinney(fr)).
Lee & Moore are going to be studs.
Starting Safety: Barnett & Newlan / Adams
Starting Corners: Shelley & Dozier / C Moore/ D J Reed/ Starks/ Guidry
The CATS have two All Big 12 candidates in the D-backfield = Barnett & Shelley
If the CATS can replace Britz and other players improve the Bill Sndyer way, I believe the Defense is going to be a force next season. And hopefully the CATS will have a QB that can generate first downs and keep the defense off the field, which will improve the defense by itself.
GO STATE !!
