Sports attorney Dan Lust was on Big 12 radio...cliff notes:
1) Still a lot of hurdles for Texas/OU to clear if they truly want to leave before 2025. Not as easy as everyone is saying.
2) If they try to leave before 2025, Big 12 could sue for irreparable harm to recoup any loss of potential revenue during this timeframe.
3) Both schools are looking at $75-$100M exit fees. Not sure either school could pay this immediately as they doubt Big 12 would allow them to pay it off over time.
4) He thinks this is the first domino to fall for next-range of realignment.
Overall, it sounds like the Big 12 would have some legal footing if they sued OU/Texas for leaving early. OU/Texas best hope is that other Big 12 schools also leave early.
