I wish Currie would have hired Brad when he hired Bruce (not many on this board were asking for Brad back then, but I wanted to keep what Huggy & Frank started going).

As for Underwood, I'm guessing Brad will become a really good coach.
Yep, Brad has yet to prove that he is a really good coach.
Part of being a really good coach is your ability to recruit good talent.

We do not know if Brad can recruit at a high level in a power 5 conference.

Brad won at SFA with the prior coach's players .... and this past season he won with really good players from the previous coach.
And truth of the matter, had Evans and Forte not suffered season ending injuries in the 2015/16 season, Ford may still be the coach at Okie State.
If

Illinois is paying a huge buyout and committing 18 million dollars to Underwood (24 million).
The Illinois administration is going "ALL IN" on Underwood.

Side note: I'm pretty sure Okie State will stuggle next year (with or without Brad).
Evans is going to leave early for the NBA. Forte, Hammonds, & Carrol (seniors) = top 4 scorers.
The #5 & #6 scorers, Waters & Dillard, will return (also Ford recruits).

Difference between Okie State & K-State seasons ??
Underwood and Okie State finished the season with a 20 & 13 record = 1st round loss in the NCAA tourney against a 7 seed.
9 & 9 Big 12 regular season record.
Okie State recorded 1 win over the Top 4 teams in the Big 12 (West Virginia).
Okie State got off to a slow start and then fattened up on bottom half of the conference.

Kansas State finished the season with a 21 & 14 record = 1st round loss in the NCAA tourney against a 6 seed (won a play-in game).
8 & 10 Big 12 regular season record.
K-State recorded 3 wins over the Top 4 teams in the Big 12 (West Virginia, Baylor x 2).
K-State had a good start but strgguled in February before finishing the regular season with 2 wins and a quarter final round win over Baylor in the Big 12 tourney.

In the end, not much separates Okie State and Kansas State's seasons.
Based on some comments on this board, you would have thought there was a great disparity in favor of Okie State, but there simply is not.

I'm not a Bruce Weber fan by any stretch, but Weber did more with the prior coach's players at K-State in year 1 (won a Big 12 title) than what Underwood at Okie State with another coach's players. One could argue that Weber had better players to work with in year 1... I'm not so sure. Underwood had an experienced senior (Forte) guard and a bona-fide NBA player in Evans in the backcourt (Collins & Hammonds are also very solid players).

Time will tell if K-State should have went "ALL IN" on Underwood.

GO STATE !!
