I know there are many on here upset about how the game ended, and there are some valid points. But what I watched is a team on the rise that is getting better offensively in time for the stretch run. Here's the other main point to think about.
If this was a team that was led by a senior in the key positions (i.e. QB), I think this team leading 31-10 turns into 45-17. But because this is a young team at various positions, there are going to be some bumps along the way to getting to that level of a team.
The encouraging thing that all should be focusing on is that in Ames, we were up 31-10. Even with Klein and Waters, we never led ISU by that much.......ever.
We've had to to battle to the last play or last drive almost every time we go up there, and certainly had to do that last year at home. The progress is there if you WANT to see it. Burton is catching the football (one handed too!). Barnes is going to be special! Delton is getting some reps and looked good running the ball. Duke didn't get beat deep against receiver who is 8 inches taller! He had an INT this week.
Can we clean up some mistakes? Yep.......Should we have run the football and chewed clock up by two scores late. Yep. Should we have had a better pass rush today against ISU....Yep. Can we get better.....Yep! Lots of room for improvement, but this is a different team today than it was when we held on against Texas Tech. Our QB play is getting more and more solid, which was the biggest concern early in the year against Stanford, WVU, and TT.
Oklahoma State is good, and this week will be a big time challenge. Time to put 4 quarters of football together and grab a signature win! GO CATS!
