... re-boot of this program? I am actually a "Weberite" from the start, but I think its time to evaluate his time here a little closer.
We gave him a pass after the first reboot and 2 yrs later he made the play in game. During the 2 yr tourney absence he missed on some key recruits...Shamet being one of them. Sorry, but give me NBA's Shamet over BB. It would have been nice to have both. Boottom line is that the handling of Shamet was sloppy. But lets look at the Big 12 titles and tourney appearances Weber loves to remind us of: 1st Big 12 title with Martin's players was commendable, but we lost to Lasalle in the first round as a 4 seed and to KU twice. We some how shared that title with KU? Blow out losses to KU are a continued theme but I digress. The deep run was also nice and win over Kentucky's frosh/soph...but we lost to The "Nun" in the next round. Ok, he gets yet another Big 12 title the next season and let's not mention KU...but then loses again in first round. So he was without Wade...UC Irvine???? And then last year's awful season only to be followed up by another reboot! Losses to...I can't even go there. The reason why we are here again are all the under whelming recruiting classes. Even taking in players he can't use. At what point does he take blame and accept responsibility by stepping down? Answer...he won't as long as GT enables him and pays him for all his mediocracy! Well Cat fans, another awful season is here despite a ranked rectuiting class. But is he deserved of yet another re-boot? Meanwhile programs like Baylor, WVU, Tech and UT flourish. Even ISU during Weber's tenure. Feels like we are back to the pre-Huggins era.
