Seems like it is really veiled criticism of Coach Snyder.
Snyder's teams never show much of the playbook during the OOC games early in the season. Play calling generally seems ultra-conservative early in the season.
This is even more the case when we have a new QB directing the offense.
May have taken some of the QB runs out of the playbook last week since Hubener took such a beating against UTSA. That and the fact that we are suddenly very thin at QB.
Maybe my memory is rusty, but it seems like Snyder has always preferred to line up and run over the OOC opponents early in the season. This worked reasonably well against SD and UTSA. Not so well Saturday against a better opponent.
Snyder & Co. now have two weeks to get ready for the start of the Big 12 season. Will take SIGNIFCANT improvement in most every phase of the game to have much of a chance against the Big 12 slate (save for KU and maybe Iowa State). I'm reasonably confident that one aspect they will be working on is expanding the playbook for Oklahoma State (and beyond).
We'll see if the 'Cats are a legitimate Big 12 team (or not) in October. I don't think we accomplish much calling for the OCs' heads at this stage of the season.
