I see lots of discussion about the 30 second clock and lots of people who think 30 seconds is not enough time for the offense of some teams to get a good shot. Some are saying things like -- we're forcing less talented and undermanned teams to force up shots before they can get ready, there will be more pressing, we will no longer see teams walk the ball up the court, we will simply see more bad shots, etc., etc., etc.
My question is this: If 30 seconds is not enough time to get a good shot why does every team in college basketball -- good teams, bad teams, mediocre teams, teams that are way behind, teams that are way ahead, teams that are a little behind, teams that are a little ahead, close games -- absolutely EVERY TEAM IN EVERY SITUATION, hold the ball until 8-10 seconds are left in the half before starting their offense when they gain possession and the shot clock is off?
