Yes, Texas played well against USC.
This just in = USC is vastly over-rated. USC has issues.
Yes, Texas has a very good defense and the Horns played very good defense against Iowa State. BUT- Iowa State’s QB was simply AWFUL. It had to be Park’s worst game as a starting QB. Did Texas have something to do with Park’s poor performance, SURE, but if you watched the game, you would have watched Park miss open receivers – over & over. He was either air mailing passes or throwing passes in the dirt.
His 3 INTs didn’t help either.
With Park’s negative rush yards (sack yardage), Iowa State had 10 net rushing yards = OUCH.
Minus Park’s 5 sacks, the clones only had 35 rushing yards, BUT the Clones only ran the ball 10 times (3.5 ypc = 35 yards). Talk about giving up on the run (and Iowa State has a very good RB)... then again, if your QB can't pass the ball, a defense is going to leave 8 in the box.
Newsflash: Kansas State has a good defense too.
Statistically, K-State’s defense is ranked higher than Texas (Total Defense #21 to #40 and Scoring Defense #15 to #43). That said, I will be the first to admit that until a team plays 7 or 8 games, stats are largely swayed by the schedule a team has played.
The Big Question? Which offense is going to step-up.
My money is on K-State.
K-State has the better QB.
K-State receivers have wiped the butter off their fingers.
I also like K-State’s special teams over Texas.
The WildCats are sharpening their claws and are ready to ERASE the HYPE.
